Every year, Apple comes out with new models of its iPhone. Well ahead of the scheduled launch of a new model, the media goes agog with features that the company plans to add in the new model. So far Apple has surprised customers and technology experts by offering out of the world features in every major model that it has released. And, every major release has helped Apple grab a larger market share in the high-end smartphone segment. A new report from Forbes speaks of 3 major features that we could expect to see in the iPhone 7 from Apple.
There is also a report from Digi Times, South Korea citing the Chinese Commercial Times about Catcher Technology based out of Taiwan which supplies the smartphone cases for Apple and other electronic giants. Catcher is also the biggest supplier of smartphone chassis for iPhones from Apple. According to the Digi Times report, the iPhone 7 is expected to be waterproof. The report suggests further that the iPhone 7 will use a new compound material to keep the antenna hidden.
Report by Commercial Times also stated that while IPhone shipments could drop about 30% sequentially during the first quarter of 2016, consolidated revenue for Catcher from clients other than Apple accounting for about 40% of the overall sales will keep growing thanks to the new products from these clients in the first half of 2016.
Although the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are virtually waterproof, engineers at Apple are working overtime to make the iPhone 7 fully waterproof (at least if we go by the reports).
The Commercial Times report suggests further that the antenna stripes may be done away with in the iPhone 7. In June 2015, Apple obtained a patent for ‘Non-capacitive or radio frequency transparent material with anodized metal appearance’. The report suggests that Apple could now be using this composite material for their iPhone 7. Consequently, it is expected that the iPhone 7 could also be the thinnest smartphone ever offered from the Apple stable. This could also be just the beginning of the guessing game. Keep glued in for more about the iPhone 7 and you will find them as soon as they surface in the digital world. There are several media outlets continuously tracking the rumor mills for more on the iPhone 7, and the next update could be even as early as tomorrow. But remember, Apple somehow likes September for the release of its new models. So, that gives us a long 9 months to keep talking.
